Survey from fabrics from a Roman barge: can we identify sail remains?

The deployment of fabrics that ensured the seal of a barge at the end of IIe century AD allowed the establishment of the largest corpus of Roman fabrics in Western Europe. A study is underway to try to determine possible uses prior to this ultimate job, including sails. What methods and comparisons allow us to advance in this research?
