Dive into the scientific and artistic adventure of the Tara Ocean Foundation!
Five exceptional events composed by MAMAC, L’Artistique and the Tara Ocean Foundation to bring insight into the major issues of the oceans by crossing artistic, scientific or philosophical views.
The Tara Ocean Foundation is the first Reknown Foundation for Public Use (FRUP) dedicated to the Ocean in France. Since 2003, it has been conducting scientific expeditions to study marine biodiversity and to monitor and anticipate the impacts of climate change and pollution. Thanks to her status as Special Observer at the United Nations, she actively participates in important decisions for the ocean
From the intimate connection that human populations have built with it to the many activities that are based on its balance, the Ocean occupies a major role in the history of our civilizations and the future of our societies. At 20 years old, the Tara Ocean Foundation amplifies its actions with two ships the schooner Tara and Tara Polar Station, because the next 20 years are decisive for the planet, the ocean and the future of living on Earth.
“The Arctic, Eldorado or Shrine? »
The Arctic Ocean is a remote and extreme environment that we know badly. We do not know how living organisms face the extreme seasonality of light, temperature, sea ice, and how they survive during the long polar night, as well as the rapid climate change of this polar ocean.
By Heidi Sevestre, glaciologist, and a scientist from the Tara Polar Station.
