Becoming Ocean: a social conversation about the ocean*

An choir exploration of the main challenges of the ocean co-produced by Villa Arson, TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary and the Tara Ocean Foundation.

From May 8 to August 24, 2025, Villa Arson, TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary and the Tara Océan Foundation present Becoming Ocean: a social conversation about the ocean, a great exhibition that explores the main challenges of the ocean in a choral way. More than 20 international artists participate in the exhibition, through critical and documentary approaches as well as more sensory, poetic or speculative expressions.

Becoming Ocean: a social conversation about the ocean presents artists from the TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Contemporary Art such as Seba Calfuqueo, Anne Duk Hee Jordan, Simone Fattal, Sonia Levy, Armin Linke, Ingo Nierman, Diana Policarpo, or Allan Sekula, and participants in the artist-in-reside program of the Tara Ocean Foundation, such as Samuel Bollenhdorff,

The exhibition is co-produced by Villa Arson, TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary and the Tara Océan Foundation which provide the police station. It is part of the programme of the Biennale des Arts et de l’Océan de Nice and is one of the main events presented in the city as part of the United Nations Conference on Oceans (UNOC3). The exhibition is carried out with the collaboration of the Schmidt Ocean Institute.
