Between heaven and sea

Participatory dance performance proposed by HUMAINE Company

For twenty years, the Human Company and its choreographer Éric Oberdorff have been creating interdisciplinary projects integrating choreography, music, image, text, plastic and digital arts, placing humans at the heart of creation. They question the physicality of the bodies and their connections to the world as poetic smugglers.

In partnership with MAMAC and the Centre du Patrimoine de la Ville de Nice, Éric Oberdorff and the artists of the Human Company propose to invest a magical and unique place of the City, both crossing and border between the Mediterranean and the Old Town: the Ponchette Terraces.

The dancers take the spectators on a poetic and dancing path between heaven and sea, first from west to east, living with poetry and energy space in a wandering dreamy during which the viewer’s gaze is alternately on the sea and on the city. At the end of the course, the dancers offer spectators to come back on their steps, facing the sunset, in a participative procession danced, in order to fully enroll their bodies in this exceptional landscape.

“This landscape was for me as the first smile of the sky... The world is beautiful, and out of it no salvation."
