From Francis Drake to Robert Surcouf, passing through Morad Rais: corsaries and pirates in the Mediterranean and Atlantic, late 16th - late 18th century
Meeting with Silvia Marzagalli, Professor of Universities in Modern and Contemporary History
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the sea is the scene of extensive predation operations that affect ships and cargo. Between legal activity, supervised by the authorities, intended to weaken the enemy trade, and pure and simple repatriation, the borders are not always clear, and any ship potentially threatens the risk of capture and seizure. However, race activity and piracy know strong moments and predilection areas.
