It is the passion of adventure at sea that connects these two men: the first is French, Admiral Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729-1811), he is the childhood hero of the second, Prussian, Alexander Von Humboldt. Between 1766 and 1769 Bougainville led as captain the first round of the world by ship sponsored by the Second Empire. The story of this trip to strongly inspired Humboldt, especially since it became a geographer and naturalist, came to Paris in 1798. The two men met there and a transmission was carried out: between 1799 and 1804, Von Humboldt undertook an expedition to South America that would make date...
