#15 - À la rencontre du Street Art

🚲How to discover street art frescoes in the streets of Nice as part of a bike ride?
After underground beginnings in the 1980s, street art has experienced global development and recognition as a full art with artists as Basquiat and Keith Haring at the origin of the movement and Banksy (most recognized) followed by Kaws (mixing pop culture and street art), Shepard Fairy (Obey), Bordalo (street art from recycled waste), Mobstr (employed artist) Stik, Jonone...

At the national level we find ourselves JR and Invader, Bando (who brought the graff in France from the USA), Jef Aerosol (first), C215 (specialist of the stencil), Miss. Tic, Mr Shiz, Mr Brainwash, Blek the Rat, Speedy Graphito, Roti...
In Nice, the policy for street art took a new boom in 2018 at the initiative of the mission entrusted by Christian ESTROSI to the Assistant to Culture, Mr. Robert Roux, passionate about street art, urban art and contemporary art.

Its first action was to embellish and use as shelves, the blades necessary for the construction site. This project appealed to the talent of the excellent graffiti Niçois, Thomas Debatisse alias Otom which mobilizes, in addition, many other local graffiti artists in its wake, in particular via its association specialized in urban culture (graff, bmx, music, dance...), Whole Street, which has more than 15 artists (wholestreet.asso.fr) and which is now housed in 109.
The 109, new urban crop cluster on 2 hectares, has been the scene of many artistic creations in this field from 2019 where it has been made available to 20 graffiti artists who have made their work on a part of the interior wall of the site.
Then in 2022, the 109 welcomed in residence for 6 months the artist Speedy Graphito, pionner of genre in France and internationally recognized artist. The latter was able to create numerous works with the help of other national artists and local artists.
In the different districts of Nice many works have been able to see the day from orders that the city has passed to the best Niçois artists in this field (Otom, César Malfi, Jen Miller, Eric Garence...).
The sport Always at the heart of the Nicaraguan policy has also been honoured in several works, notably in the context of the Tour de France and the development of the local football team, the GCNice.
I mean, 3 free expression walls were inaugurated (Las Planas, avenue du Xvième Corps, enclosure wall of 109) to allow amateur and professional artists to freely express their talent.

🧑 ♣Good visit!
