A masterpiece. Mrs. Jenny by Kees Van Dongen

The Dutch artist is particularly well known for her portraits of women with long-lined silhouettes and the eyes of a great intensity.
The Portrait of Madame Jenny (1923) is an eloquent example. The genius couturière is represented in a pink dress from its creation.
The jewels it carries are particularly highlighted by the painter, who had a certain fascination for the objects of the female toilet.

This web not only tells a story of friendship between two Parisian artists who regularly stayed on the Côte d’Azur, but it also reveals the story of the prodigious social ascent of two unknowns that talent has projected to one of the world newspapers of the early twentieth century. This masterpiece and the history around it are to be discovered at the Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret from January 13 to September 28, 2025.
